Commission done for me by the incomparable Arvy! I asked for Kida and Mikado (Durarara!!), and left the details up to her. This is the beautiful thing she came up with.

Despite his outgoing personality—or at least the way he presents himself—I tend to think of Kida as a secretly quiet, internal kind of boy. Like he does a lot of what he does, including the Yellow Scarves, not because he wants to but because he thinks he has to; if it were up to him, he’d spend all day every day on a blanket in the sunshine with his best friend, whom he’s so secretly in love with that he isn’t even really sure himself that’s what it is.

Mikado knows, though.

And he can wait.

This is one of the most lovely pieces of Kida fanart I’ve come across. His expression is so soft (as is the coloring, which is just gorgeous) and there’s a sense of peace, which is unusual for him. He’s getting it from whatever he’s listening to, I think. Maybe he put on his favorite song to help him step out of himself for a moment.

I wish I knew who the artist is.
